The very last game written by INTV Corp. for the Intellivision; released only as a ROM image. That is, until the IntelligentVision team produced a beautifully packaged, complete game in 2012.
Replay Value: 3
Notes: 1- or 2-player game; available only as ROM image until 2012; Easter Egg
I haven't sat down and played Deep Pockets enough to give it
a fair review with respect to gameplay yet. I can say the following things, though...
The title screen music and graphics are great. Visit the official
site for an interesting history about the game's music. The graphics for the
title screen and a couple other areas are also quite nice. The major disappointment
with the graphics is the flickering of the balls. Since they were treated,
apparently, as distinct objects (i.e. no dirty tricks were pulled), the
limitation on the number of moving objects is exposed in this game.
||This game was only available as a ROM image until IntelligentVision's 2012 "gift" release; unsure if the cartridge is a variant.
||No box was ever made for this game until the 2012 release.
||No manual was ever printed for Deep Pockets Super Pro Pool & Billiards until the IntelligentVision release.
||No overlays were made for this game until the 2012 release. Two different overlay variations are known to exist.
||No label variations existed until the 2012 IntelligentVision cartridge release. No variations have been found.
||Two Easter eggs exist - credits and a special message.
Only one version of the box has been found for Deep Pockets: Super Pro Pool & Billiards.
||Intelligentvision 2012 "gift" release; image courtesy of David Harley; opens on top, game slot on left
Only one version of the manual has been found for Deep Pockets: Super Pro Pool & Billiards.
||Done in the classic style of many INTV Corp. manuals; this one is a gatefold style
If you don't have the homebrew release, you can find the instructions online
A total of two Deep Pockets: Super Pro Pool & Billiards overlay variants have been documented.
||IntelligentVision 2012 release; uses thicker material than standard overlays and matte finish
|Image not available.
||Part of the Supplemental Overlay Pack for Intellivision Flashback
Only one version of the label has been found for Deep Pockets: Super Pro Pool & Billiards.
||Standard IntelligentVision 2012 release label in classic Mattel shell
||Quite a nice screen—and the music is simply awesome! As soon as I heard about this ROM I downloaded it through an Intellicart and was just wowed by that music.
||Nice variety of games to choose from.
||Once again, impressive graphics—all that just to pick the number of players!
||Actually, this looks much better than the real thing. The actual game flickers a bit because of all the balls.
