A step up from the ol' reliable PGA Golf, adds several nifty features.

Chip Shot is a lot like the real thing. You love it, and you hate it. Quite enjoyable game - makes me want to break my putter over my knee! There are several improvements over the original PGA Golf cartridge. Most notable among them are:

  • 18 holes
  • Improved graphics
  • Close-up of putting green
  • Wider course variety

The graphics are nice, and the holes challenging. There are lots of small touches that make this a very nice game. As you'd expect, the sound is sparse - so the rating isn't because it's bad, it's just that there's so little.

ROM It has been claimed that a ROM variation exists.
Box No variations have been found.
Manual Two variants have been identified.
Overlays Custom overlays have been designed and distributed by Psycho Stormtrooper.
Label No variations have been found.
Easter Eggs Two Easter eggs exist - credits and a special message.

Only one version of the box has been found for Chip Shot Super Pro Golf.

The Digital Press site reports that this game has two ROM variants (crediting Ian Holbrough). Ostensibly, the ROM variant is that in the special credits screen (see Easter Eggs section), some versions give a 'Caddie' credit, while others give a 'Caddy' credit.

Personally, I've so far only seen 'Caddie' in the carts that have passed through my hands, while the ROM images floating around out there seem to be of the 'Caddy' variety. Anyone out there able to confirm with an actual physical cartridge that the 'Caddy' version exists?

A total of two Chip Shot Super Pro Golf manual variants have been documented.

Title Screen Title screen for Chip Shot Super Pro Golf.
Entire Hole View Compared to the old PGA Golf standby, these holes are lush!
Putting Green View Another vast improvement over the original PGA Golf is the close-up view for the green. Not a mere graphical embellishment, it also adds effects such as the slope of the green.
