A console can't qualify as "classic" unless it has its own Space Invaders knock-off.

Sound: 4
Replay Value: 3
Notes: 1-player; rare Action Network package exists for this game, too; Easter Eggs
Screen Shots |
Space Armada has very nice graphics and animation for a
Space Invaders knock-off. And, this game is hard. The aliens are a
little too big for the screen, it seems. But, they sure are pretty! And, the
variety of bombs they drop is interesting, as is the shield refill when you hit
the bonus saucer. The sound effects are interesting, and I especially like the
unique feature that the debris of one exploding alien can also destroy the one
following it. Best Score: 46500

There seems to have been a bit of confusion when the Space Network
was introduced—at least regarding Space Armada. At least the
following box variants have been noted—aside from the standard variants
due to different markets, etc.:
- Red Action Network box
- Dark blue Action Network box
- Standard dark blue Space Network box
For some odd reason, the action network variants (both kinds) are easier to
locate in Canada or the U.K.—i.e. markets where versions made in Hong Kong
were typically distributed. Did the Hong Kong plant produce some batches of the
boxes incorrectly? Who can say?
A total of thirteen Space Armada manual variants have been documented.
