Imagic Intellivision Games Software Hardware Overlays Trade Lists Other Stuff |
This is my favorite third-party game company for Intellivision, just above Activision (and tied w/ Activision on the Atari VCS). Faced with the challenge of creating cool games that were available on multiple platforms, while avoiding the license plague that seemed to permeate the industry, Imagic consistently produced fresh, interesting and challenging games. The Imagic games seemed a step above what anyone else offered. Consistently good sound effects, and always excellent graphics. I always liked how they made their overlays, too. They used a different material, and the overlays had some texture to them. They appear to be more durable than the later generation Mattel overlays - they don't scratch off on the back, and they don't crease or chip as easily. It's pretty tough to really mangle up an Imagic overlay. Any guesses about the numbering scheme on the cart? IM - Imagic for Mattel, IA - Imagic for Atari... What about the numbers?
